Nepal adopts new Constitution, aimed bloodshed and a death

On Sunday, Nepal adopts its first democratic constitution aimed protest and atleat on death in Birgunj in the Southern part of Nepal.

Moments after the Nepalese President Ram Baran Yadav signed a copy of the constitution, entire families came out to parks and roundabout in capital Katmandu to light candles and lamps.

"We have been waited for this moment for more than 6 decades" said an elderly man.

During these years our country has seen wars, a palace messacre and a devastating earthquake.

But a new charter has created divisions - it's framework of secular, federal system being opposed by groups who wanted to re-established Nepal as a Hindu nation.

Another group, the Madeshis, who are culturally and ethically closer to India, say they have been marginalized under this new constitution that splits Nepal into seven new states on geographical basis.

Demonstration in the lowlands have largely been met with a tough response from Katmandu. On Saturday, Prime Minister Sushil Koirala appealed to the agitating Madhesi and Tharu groups to come forward for dialogues.

Still one died during the clash between the Madhesis and the Police in Birgunj.where curfew was declared later. Over the last few weeks about 40 protesters and policemen have been died.

The unrest troubles India which on Sunday, urged Nepal to resolve differences through dialogue," We are concerned that the situation in several parts of the country bordering India continues to be violent," a statement from External Affairs ministry said.
