Documents missing in Ishrat Jahan case, says Rajnath Singh

The opposition Congress was under the attack today in the Parliament over Ishrat Jahan Case by the  members of ruling party BJP accusing P Chidambaram of manipulating the case when he was Home Minister.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday, said in Lok sabha that related documentss to the prepration of ministry's second affidavit in Ishrat Jahan encounter case are missing and the enquiry has been ordered for the same.

"Two letters written by the Home Secretary GK Pillai to the Attorney General are not traceable. The draft of second affidavit that came from the Attorney General in which the Home Minister P Chidambaram made changes is also missing," he said.

"There should be no politics on terror. Be it the Ishrat Jahan or any other case," he said

"Those who call them secular, they tried to give communal color to terrorism. This happned first time in the world. We will not accept this in any way in this country," he added.

On June 15, 2004 the 19  years old Ishrat Jahan was shot dead by the Gujrat Police along with three others. The Gujrat police claimed that all four were involved in the plot to assassinate, then chief minister of Gujrat Narendra Modi.

However, the investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) and the high court appointed special investigating team found that it was a "Fake Encounter".

BJP alleges that P Chidambaram rewrote the Government document to the court to say that theree was no proof of Ishrat's terror links.
