The Ashes: Australia defeated England by a massive 405 runs to level the series

Australia has defeated England by a massive margin of 405 runs on the fourth day of the test match at Lords to level the 5 match series.

Australia dominated every single session for the start of the test match.

Chasing a massive target of 409, the England's batsmen were not able to stay in the wicket and the team collapsed in am ignominious fashion to 103 for all out as Australian bowlers exposed serious flaws in England's batting.

Earlier in the match, Australian batsmen scored an impressive total of 566-8 and declared. Chris Rogers 178 runs and Steve Smith's double century helped their team to post an huge total on the board.

England batting collapsed in the first innings as they were 30-4 but captain Cook and Ben Stokes made a good partnership of 145 runs for the 5th wicket. They both could have made century but Marsh cleaned them up for 96 and 87 respectively. The rest of the batsmen were not able to do much contribution with the bat and England teams was all out on 302.

Having the lead of 254 before the start of start of second innings, Warner and Rogers scored a quick 100+ stand on day 3, Smith, Clarke and Marsh made contributions to their teams total and placed a huge target of 509 for England.

But England team collapsed in the second innings as well and got all out on 103 and got out within 2 sessions.

Australian pacer Johnson, who was criticized during the Cardiff test match, made a good come back by taking 6 wickets in the match.
