Atleast 116 people killed in military plane crash in Indonesia

At least 116 people are died after an Indonesian air force transport plane crashed on Tuesday shortly after the take off and was exploded as a fireball according to the officials.

The Hercules C-130 crashed in a residential area of Medan when it was carrying the militants and their families.

Air force chief Agus Supriatna said that there were 113 people in the plane including 12 crew members and 101 passengers when the plane crashed.

So far 49 bodies have been recovered and take to the hospital, he added.

The local rescue agency said that three other people were killed on the ground when the plane crashed and went down near a residential area.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo expressed sorrow at the accident by tweetin ," May the families be given patience and strength. May we remain protected from disaster.

The plane took off at 12:08 P.M(IST) and 05:08(GMT) from the air base and crashed after two minutes in the city, about five kilometers from the base, according to the military.

Shortly after the take off the pilot was asked to return to the base, Supriatna said, adding that the aircraft might have suffered engine trouble.

But the pilot said the plane was in very good condition and had made many stops before reaching Midan.
